My Website is done!
Not perfect! Why isn’t it perfect? Because “Done is better than perfect.” That’s why! You might be asking yourself “What in the hell does that mean?” Well, it means that having a good quality product done and out the door is much more valuable than waiting to achieve perfection. How many more people will get to see my website now that I have updated it and will begin pushing content out of it than if I waited until the site was “perfect?” A lot, at least that’s the plan. As is, my site has minimal examples of my work, but as time passes, I will be changing that. I’ll be adding new pieces as I go, but it has the most important bits of info. SOME examples of my work, my résumé, and a way to get in touch with me. Really, for an aspiring freelance graphic designer and social media specialist, what more do you need?
I plan on writing blog posts about graphic design & social media. I look to further my understand of both and wield their awesome powers for good. I’ll use my site as a platform to share information I find useful from other sources, veterans and influencers in their respective fields. Share my reactions, predictions and all around thoughts on the matters, and maybe a few “what am I up to” kind of posts here and there.
I couldn’t have done it alone.
Thanks go out to Justin of Boxy Studio for his help in getting their Resume Builder plugin working with my WordPress install. It’s because of his helpfulness and dedication, my resume page is looking awesome. He took the time to look over my site and play with a few things to get the Resume Sidebar working properly. Also, thanks to CodeStag for the use of their awesome DocType wordpress theme and their WordPress plugins StagTools and Stag Custom Sidebars. Also shout out to Mike Dugan, a fellow Internet Tough Guy, thanks for stepping up and helping a newbie w/ WordPress. Thanks to the fine support I received from my preferred hosting provider, 1and1.com. I set this page up as a subdomain for testing and once I had it done (Not perfect) they helped me migrate it over to my main domain quickly. Lastly, thanks to Sheryl Sandberg who’s inspirational quote got me in gear to get my site done!
“Done is Better Than Perfect.” – Sheryl Sandberg
Who is Sheryl Sandberg?
Sheryl Sandberg is the COO at Facebook. Before that, she was VP of Online sales & Operations for Google, Chief of Staff at the US Department of Treasury, and more. So, I (and you) can assume she knows a little something about getting stuff done.
