Medical & Recreational Cannabis Campaigns
As part of a marketing initiative for a Colorado-based cannabis company with over seven locations, I was tasked with creating compelling print advertisements for one of the state’s most prominent local publications, Westword. The goal was simple yet impactful: attract customers into the store to make a purchase.
Design Strategy and Execution
Given the limitations of newspaper-quality print—where bright, clean visuals and legible text are key—I took a strategic approach. The ads focused on clear price points and simple, bold visuals, steering clear of cannabis imagery due to the lower-quality print’s inability to capture fine details. Instead, I relied on clean design principles that conveyed the message effectively without relying on overly complicated graphics.
Universal Advertising Principles
While these ads were for the cannabis industry, the advertising principles I employed are universal and can be applied to any market or industry. Whether it’s retail, restaurants, services, or any other business looking to create eye-catching, actionable print campaigns, I take the same level of attention to detail and foresight in creating ads that grab attention, engage potential customers, and drive results.
Key Highlights
- Strong Visual Focus: Clean, bold design that maximized impact within the limitations of the print medium.
- Clear Messaging: Price points and offers that were easy to read and understand.
- Adaptable Principles: Strategies not exclusive to cannabis, adaptable to any industry looking for effective print advertising.
