Cannabis Business Podcast Branding
BluntBusiness™ is the STRAINWISE® Consulting Cannabis Business Podcast. Recorded live at STRAINWISE® Consulting’s Lakewood, CO corporate offices. The BluntBusiness™ brand is the 4th spin-off brand to emerge from the STRAINWISE® brand name. It once again needed to feel unique while still fitting into the STRAINWISE® family of brands that have come before it.
Brand Consistency is Key
As with the other STRAINWISE® brands, I used the Knockout family of fonts to keep them consistent all throughout the branding umbrella. I added variety however by incorporating two different weights in the main logotype. This also allowed me to remove the space between the words “blunt” and “business” while still being able to show that each word is an individual within the compound word. The name itself is a double entendre referring to both the straightforward manner that cannabis industry news and information would be presented and the slang for a cannabis cigarette.
The main logomark kept the hexagon shape from the original STRAINWISE® brand but is filled instead with a visualized waveform of audio. In picking the main image/graphic that would live in the STRAINWISE® hexagon, I went through many of the usual iterations one would pick for a podcast. Stereo headphones, a microphone, and even signal bars. After much exploration and mind mapping, I zeroed in on audio waves. I went as far as generating actual audio waves of several cannabis industry words but ultimately found a hand-drawn design was much more appealing.
The color palette borrowed the blues from STRAINWISE® Consulting but expanded it into a monochromatic color palette.
Lastly, I was able to secure the vanity URL of BluntBusinessRadio.com. A top-level domain that included the project name and describes it with the keywords “Business” and “Radio” It is set to forward to the podcast host page on CannabisRadio.com‘s site.
